Poolesville Day Parade!

Posted on Sep 15 2021 - 6:47pm

Meet at Poolesville Elementary School at 9:45 a.m. this Saturday!

Look for the older Troop kids in scout uniforms to find the meeting place.  The older scouts will be arriving earlier.  We hope to be walking close to the front of the parade.  We will try to get a picture of all the scouts at the end of the parade, likely on the sidewalk by the houses behind Anytime Fitness.

Scouts should wear their official uniform if they have one.  This is not a drop-off event.  Families are welcome to walk behind the scouts.  Please pick up your scout at the end of the parade route.

This is a great time to get Den leaders dues ($150 check made payable to IWLA -BSA Troop 694)

Help Save the Turkey Nests! Service Opportunity at Local Isaac Walton League!

Posted on May 4 2021 - 8:16pm

The Bethesda Chevy Chase Izaak Walton League Farm Committee wants your help!  Before planting their fields, they are asking for volunteers to check the fields for nesting Turkeys.  If found, those fields will be planted after the eggs have hatched and it is safer for the wild turkeys.  This is a great outdoor activity and a way to help local wildlife.

When – Sunday, May 16th from 1-5pm, rain date Sunday, May 23st from 1-5pm

Where – Meet at the BCCIWLA chapter house.  The gate will be open to allow entry.

Cost – Nothing!!

What to bring -

  • Shoes for walking,
  • Long pants and bug spray (we will be in long grass so ticks happen)
  • Water Bottle

Who can come – Anyone who can walk in the fields.  This is a great opportunity to introduce wildlife conservation goals to those new to it.

Please contact your Den Leader and Deborah Behrend to be added to the mailing list and confirm attendance at drbehrend@aol.com.
