Hey Pack,

I have some news and it may not be the best thing you hear today ....

Currently, all of Pak 694 Cub Scouts are registered with BSA and Pack 694 until the end of the year.  All of the Den Leaders are also registered with BSA and Pack 694.

Soon, I will be asking if you will want to continue Cub Scouting into 2024 in a process called "rechartering."  In October of this year, I will be asking for money for the whole year of 2024. Or do you want to recharter for 2024.

You may have seen an email about the increase in price in BSA National Membership dues to $80 per Scout and $60 per Adult.

You may not have seen the implementation of the NCAC Participation Fee of $80 per Scout.  NCAC (National Capital Area Council is our local area of BSA).

Scout Life Subscription continues to be $15.

The Pack has a $50 fee which pays for supplies, awards, patches, pins and all the things we do throughout the year.

When all of these fees are added together the total cost for the 2024 Scouting year will be $225.  Its $210 if you opt out of the Scout Life Magazine.

Another issue is that the Pack will need to submit its recharter by October 20.  If your family wants to continue Scouting into 2024 -- I will need your check by the Oct 19 Pack Meeting.

I am personally really stinking upset about this because all five members of my family are involved in Scouting and we'll need to pay almost $800 !!

I have just submitted my financial assistance and will hopefully have some answers on what the process entails.

If you have ANY issues with this fee increase PLEASE PLEASE let me know -- I need to know so that I can relay complaints to Council and then on to National.
Some of you may think that with the price increase, Scouting doesn't provide a worth the time, effort and money to what you get out if it ratio.  If that is the case, please tell me and I will let our District Executive know.

There will be a Pinewood Derby Race Track for racing -- just for fun!
